Dropped Laptop: My laptop fell while on and now it gives a ';disk read error';. Any help or advice?

You will probably have to replace your hard drive. You might try running chkdsk /r from the recovery console first. You hard drive might be able to fix the bad blocks. To get to the recovery console, you will have to boot to your Windows XP disk. Push ';r'; for recovery console. When you are at the command prompt, type chkdsk /r. I think the hard drive got disconnected.
