Advice! Please Help!!!!?

My husband and I are in a disagreement..... we got carpeting around the house three years ago and it looks really nice still...but I am tired of the way it looks and it bothers my allergies. Iam now ready to try (wood) flooring because it's in style and plus as I said, it will help out my allergies greatly.

Would I be wrong to pour bleach on the floor and just say ';Oops'; in hopes that it can get changed or is there another way I can go about this. Thanks very much!!

I think the ';bleach idea'; my not be the best, but you have allergies, and that is a strong case for hard surface flooring.

If cost is his main deterrent, have your carpet professionally cleaned and have an experienced installer remove it ( if you feel you can't ';DIY'; ). It can then be advertised and resold as there is a good market for quality reused flooring for flipping houses, apartments, cabin properties, etc. This will help defray the cost of the new wood.

You may want to retain some carpet and lay wood in some areas, if he is concerned with cost and the look perhaps may be too cold for his tastes. Tell him this can also be warmed up with area rugs. They can be inexpensive and changed and cleaned often.

Though real hardwood is superior to wood laminate flooring, laminate is less money also. Though if you choose laminate, research your product well as to it's wear layer, damage by scratching, dragging furniture, pets, moisture etc. Deal with a good flooring dealer, ask lots of questions, and make the best choice for your home.

Good luck, and I hope this works with the husband better than bleach!Advice! Please Help!!!!?
Well unless you poured bleach in every room that has carpet, your husband may just replace the carpet in the room where it was(accidentally spilled)';OOPS';.

So,this is what I would suggest doing.Be honest with yourself and him and say, I just want new wood floors. Because in your question you stated the carpet looks really nice still...but I am tired of the way it looks and ready to try wood because it is in style.
pour bleach? no, that might lead to a throw rug on top of the rug and that wouldn't exactly help your alergies, either. i say you go to your local home improvement store and bring back samples/brochures, and plenty of ideas of how your 'handy' husband can put it down himself.

what? husband not handy? not feelin up to all that work? then threaten to have the home improvement store send a contractor to get it done.
well i won't get into whether it's right or wrong but it's making me laugh because it's a crafty way to solve your problem. just tell him flat out that YOUR HEALTH COMES FIRST hello
Lol, that sounds like something I would do. Honestly, if the carpet is really bothering your allergies, (and I know how much it sucks not being able to breathe well, or for your head to hurt), and he REFUSES to even think about it, I'd go for it.

But, if your poured the bleach, and he honestly doesn't mind a white spot on the carpet, (as many men wouldnt) then what would you do? :P
