i have just started my period for the first time and my stomach hurts and i feel really horrid. is this normal?
also it is sooo heavy and my pads feel like diapers. is there anything else i can use?Period help? :( any advice would help?
It is normal to feel discomfort during your period, like pain in your abs and things like that, and you can also feel a little heavier. You should take some pain killers if the pain is really annoying, but you should talk to a doctor if the pain doesn't stop after your period's over.
You should regularly change your pads, in order not to feel like you are wearing diapers. Another thing you can use are the internal tampons.
Anyway, try to relax because it's normal and after some time you will get used to this feelings. I always feel uncomfortable during my period, I have like pain in my abs but after the first days it's gone.
Hope you'll feel better!

Congratulations.
It can be normal to get cramps, but there is no reason what-so-ever to just tolerat them, most women can totally prevent menstrual cramps with something as easy as changing diet or using herbal treatments, it's just a case of going and learning more about your body and how to deal with your periods. One of the best things to use when you do get cramps is clary sage, this is an essential oil you can get form most health stores, you rub it into your stomach, not only does it work better and faster than painkillers but it helps prevent cramps by supporting estrogen production.
I'm guessing that you are using commercial pads like Always...that's why they feel like diapers, they don't allow your genitals to 'breathe' so make you all hot and damp, which isn't comfortable. I recommend you try organic pads like Cottons or cloth pads like Lunapads, they will be much more comfortable for you, or lunapads also do period panties which are underwear with pads built-in so they feel just like wearing normal underwear, check out the Lunapads web site http://www.lunapads.com Maybe when you are a little older you would want to use something internal, in which case I'd recommend menstrual cups as they are internal, safe and hygienic so they can be worn at any time for up to 12 hours, unlike tampons which aren't healthy or hygienic so have to be changed often and can't be worn all the time.
You have a lot of different options; Commercial tampons, organic tampons, sponge tampons, soft tampons, cloth tampons, padettes, commercial pads, organic pads, cloth pads, homemade pads, period belts, period panties, period blankets, silicone menstrual cups, rubber menstrual cups, diaphragms as menstrual cups, homemade menstrual cups, softcups, free-flow, free-flow layering, free-flow instinctive, extraction and menstrual management 鈥?all are very different.
heyy this is my first year with my period so i know how you feel, :) yes thats completely normal, dont woryr i have it today and i have to go to a big gig tomorrow :S, well if you dont like pads, try a tampon? at first i hated them, but once you get how to use them they are fine!, start off with a regular, and if it leaks either try wearing a pad and a tampon or just get a more absorbent tampon , hope all goes well , x
Well, for your first period, it is always better to use pads.
It is normal for your stomach to hurt. Thats just PMS. Other symptoms:
~Backache
~Headache
~Drowsiness
~Fatigue
~Bloating
~Just feeling like Crud
You could use tampons, but I don't recommend it yet.
That's normal. You should try tampons, they work sooooo much better! Their are also cups, which i have never tried, but i heard they work pretty good.

Not really you will get use to the size of the pad
take some midol, and use always pads with wings and leak guards. Take a nap and have some chocolate you'll feel better tomorrow
yes it is normal, dont worry about it okay, its just period pains.
you could use tampons.
I really don't know...maybe you are just cramping (for some reason I don't cramp)
You might need a differnt type of pad then
