I have a lot of questions for those past/present High School homeschoolers. This is my last year, so I really want to be prepared and have a game plan. =D
This is for those who did wonderful in their High School work (homeschooling), for those who worked hard, for those who made a commitment to their work:
-How did you schedule? (IMPORTANT)
-How did you work? As in, what was your method? (IMPORTANT)
-How fast did you work? Were you ahead of the ';norm';? If so, how did you do that? (VERY IMPORTANT)
-Did you have a quote or saying that kept you motivated? (MAY HELP ME)
-Did you work 5, 6, or 7 day weeks? Why? (CURIOUS)
-How did your normal day go?
-What did you say no to, in order to keep your commitment?
-Do you have any tips for me? (IMPORTANT)
Thanks!!!How did you schedule and work on your High School classes as a Homeschooler? Would like a ton of advice %26amp; help?
I am doing online school (Keystone).
-Every day 5 days a week (sometimes 6) I did Between 8-10 hours a day. ( I kinda have hyper Phocus)
-My school is online so it is pretty much structured for me... I guess
-I was WAY ahead of time. I finished the year in 5 months, but you could finish Between 2-12 months, any speed you need.
-5 or 6, You can do as much as you want a day, so if you do 3 hours a day on friday, but you wanted to do 5, you could do 2 extra hours on saturday to even it out... if that make sense.
-I said no to nothing! That is the great thing about homeschooling, Your schedule is super adjustable so you can do anything and everything! (almost)
- Work hard! homeschooling is wonderful. :)
hope that helped! message me for any other questions. :)How did you schedule and work on your High School classes as a Homeschooler? Would like a ton of advice %26amp; help?

Beofre the school year starts, my mom and I make our lesson plans for the year. Last year, it went something like this -
Monday - Algebra 2 and Geometry . (We have school from 9-12) Finish assignments after lunch. Free time afterwards.
Tuesday - Spanish. I was taking this online, so my mom was not teaching me. I did maybe 3 or 4 lessons, along with 3 tests.
Wednesday - History %26amp; English. We spend about an hour on history, which covers maybe 4 or 5 lessons (They are really short!) Then we have our english unit, which usually includes writing an essay. So we spend the rest of our school time before lunch writing.
Thursday - Science. I dislike science, so we didn't cover too much. We only have school for an hour on Thursdays, because that is when we clean our house and run errands as well.
Friday - Testing, and turning in any assignments that are due.
We also have bible study every morning, which takes about 30 minutes.

I'm the type of person that will sit at a table for hours until I understand it down pat, and can teach the concept to someone else. Sometimes this can take 30 minutes, other times its a few hours. It really depends on what I'm doing.
-How fast did you work? Were you ahead of the ';norm';? If so, how did you do that? (VERY IMPORTANT)
Spanish was pretty easy for me. I could finish 5 lessons in a day. (Each module has 9 lessons, and there are 10 modules in all). Math does not come easy to me, so it took me a very long time to finish Algebra. Thankfully, that is why homeschooling is so awesome! I can work at my own pace and not be penalized for it. I was ahead of the ';norm'; in some areas, like English and history. I excel in those areas, because words make more sense to me than numbers. I was behind in Algebra I, and it took me two years.
-Did you have a quote or saying that kept you motivated? (MAY HELP ME)
';I never did a day's work in my life. It was all fun.';
- Thomas Edison
Thats what my motto is. Learning is fun to me!
-Did you work 5, 6, or 7 day weeks? Why? (CURIOUS)
I work 5 days weeks. There really is no rhyme or reason to it. 5 days a week just work for us. Plus, I couldn't imagine having to do schoolwork on a Saturday instead of going to the movies :)
-How did your normal day go?
Most days I am up at 8 am and I'll take the dog out for her potty, and a little walk. We eat breakfast, then we'll get dressed. By 9, my mom asks us to get our books, and we'll have bible study for a bit. After that, we are free to work on our individual tasks (if its monday or tuesday). My sister and I use the same book for History, English and Science, so we have to be together for those subjects. After we finish (which is around 12:30pm-ish) We'll have lunch. If we have any assignments to start on, we'll work on that until dinner.
-What did you say no to, in order to keep your commitment?
The computer. Many, many times. :)
-Do you have any tips for me? (IMPORTANT
Stay consistent, and do NOT slack off. Try to start a schedule and stick to it!!! Please, please, PLEASE don't procrastinate. I could have finished so many things if I hadn't procrastinated and waited until the last minute. Oh, and if you get frustrated, put the book down. Go to your room and rock out to a happy song (my favorite has been Just Fine by Mary J. Blige and My Hallejuah Song by Julianne Hough) There have been many times where you could find me in my room dancing around. It relieved a lot of stress.
