I use to take dance, Ballet, tap, jazz and modern. I quit two years ago. And I really miss it. I would love to start it up again, I just don't know what I should tell my parents. I also need easy work out I can do to get back in shape for it. I would also like advice and websites to catalogs for all the things needed for dance. I quit dance at the age of 9, and started again at 11. For dance clothes and stuff it depends where you live. I used to live in America and used:
www.allaboutdance.com
For England I use Pineapple Dancewear or:
www.planetdancedirect.co.uk
These are both very trustable, reasonable, websites. For other countries, just google 'Dance Wear' and whatever country.
As for the workout this is what I do:
10 sit ups, 5 minutes of stretching, 5 minutes of practicing the splits (to regain flexability) and then I go on the Wii Fit. If you don't have one, then go for a jog, even just for 10 minutes.
Increase the number of sit ups, minutes of stretching and minutes jogging each day, and you'll be toned up in no time.
About telling your parents, I'm sure they'll want the best for you. Just say to them 'I really miss dancing and feel like I'd like to start again. Please?' If it's too expensive, offer to help out somehow. Trust me, it'll be worth it!
Good luck, and please tell me how it goes.
if your first starting out after a while take it easy at first. Don't hurt yourself by pushing to do too much. Start strengthening as soon as possible. Use a thera band, on your feet, (rolling through your feet while holding the thera band with your hands, and your foot, or feet on the band) or your arms. Pilates are really very good for core work, seeing as to do ballet you need as strong of a core as you can get. STRECH! Again start slow, and hold each possition for 90 sec. If you only hold a stretch for like 30 sec. your muclers will just tens up again after you stop. Also make sure you are eating well, and exerciszing out of class, because ballet class usually does not give you very good aerobic exercise. You become strong, however I feel like i can always use more endurance training. If you want to work on small excersises at home, just find something to be a barre, and do simple demi, and grand plies in first second and third. To begin do not do forth position because if you do not turn out corectly then your knees with suffer. also so simple releves and tondues in all positions. Hope this helps! As for sites to visit, the best is Discount Dance Supply. Capezio, Bloch, Sansha, and Bodywrapers are all good brands to buy from. Bunheads, will have all accesories you need as well
sorry for the bad french spellings!
Get a Dance DVD you can use everyday to get back into shape. I use Dmitri Roundev Ballet Class Volume V Intermediate/Advanced on DVD. It has some great barre work and floor exercises! I use it every day in addition to my dance classes, and love it! Amazon has a lot of DVDs like David Howard and ABT dance classes and so does www.allaboutdance.com. Also, do stretches you remember from your past dance lessons, that will help too!
Just tell your parents, ';Mom, dad, I want to start dancing again.'; Simple.
To get into shape remember that you need strong feet. Walk or run for 10 to 30 minutes per day and get about an hour of exercise per day to improve your shape.
I can't give you any website or catalogue because I have no idea where you live (US or UK or Canada, or whatever..)
Still, I hope I helped! And good luck.
Check these dance sites:

Swimming is good for dancers, it builds up the right muscles, but it's winter right now, so I would suggest taking yoga for balance %26amp; flexibility and some sort of cardiovascular workout. Also try doing some easy stretches every night.
stretch practice basics turns leaps do 10 developes 10 brush 10 russian leaps then left then pratice your piroquettes singles doubles tripes quat and so on
